Pop the hood and you’ll see that callouts on the fenders were not lying. This is a Z-code car, and so we’re happy to see the correct 390 cubic-inch displacement under the hood. Dressed with bright valve covers and matching air topper, it’s the ideal early ’60s powerplant. A motor this size has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing this car’s cruising attitude. Plus, this Galaxie’s three-speed Crusie-O-Matic transmission, power steering, and power brakes make the total package quite comfortable going down the road. This is further heightened by modern drilled and vented front disc brakes as well as Michelin tires at each corner.
