hard-to-find 1979 Ford F-150 Ranger 4×4 Flareside short bed pickup.  If you are a Ford guy like me, you are always looking, but rarely see this model.  I may see a dozen a year or so, max.  This particular truck is also very unique in that it has an 86 DSO, which means it was manufactured for the secondary “Recreational” market; the 4×4 QuadraVans were also manufactured under the 86 DSO. So, this truck was either a dealer-specific special package, or a secondary-market custom, like the Pathfinder QuadraVan, Centurion 4-door Bronco, and other specialty vehicles.   The paint is really attractive, and definitely has that late-70’s custom feel. There is no rust to be found on the truck with the very minor exception of the rear fenders, just below where they bolt to the small side steps.  Very minor.  The rest of the truck is essentially rust-free, with the exception of minor surface rust where paint has chipped, etc.  The frame, cab mounts, etc. are all completely sound. The truck still wears its’ original V-code Medium Chestnut Metallic paint in and out, so you can see that there hasn’t been any rust repair or bodywork.  The custom paint accents are painted over the original paint, and were done when the truck was still new.  While the paint is a little tired in spots, it still looks very good and shines up nicely, as you can see.  There are dings and dents on the truck, but she’s as sound as she looks.
